LEGAL SUPPORT AND ADVOCACY

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
Our eye-opening educational programs are aimed at raising awareness about U.S.-Mexico border politics, immigration policies, and impact.
SPECIAL REPORTS
Our field and policy reports cover pertinent transnational issues affecting the deported community and their families.
1st Chicano Fest in Mexico
From April 28 - May 7, the community of binationals and the deported will host the first Chicano Festival in Mexico with the backing of academic institutions, the private sector, and government. The series of events, which will take place in the City of Guadalajara, will include a lowrider caravan of 100+ classic cars, music, art exhibits, contests, theatrical performances, and academic panels and discussions.
We are expecting more than 3,000 people to attend, representing the Chicano community from Los Angeles to Guadalajara. The Rhizome Center for Migrants is proud to be on the organizing committee of what is shaping up to be one of the city's biggest cultural events this year. We are hopeful that the acceptance of such an outpouring of expression and celebration from an otherwise marginalized community will lead to greater resources for the returned and deported and their families in the future.
Dates: April 28 - May 7, 2023
Location: Guadalajara Metropolitan Area
